Germany with the Germans

May with her siblings--Magnus and Stella

The past few days have been the greatest! On Thursday I had a slow morning again which included reading in the park and playing with the babies who were brought there to play. When May got off work, we went together with her boyfriend and met up with her siblings at the zoo! The zoo was a lot of fun and we got to see so many animals, and have some ice cream. The Berlin Zoo is famous for having the polar bear Knut, but he isn't such a baby anymore and the bird aviary was right next to the polar bears, so you know where I headed. The hippos were cute, and the zoo is also home to a three month old elephant.

Yesterday brought a trip to Sanssouci, a park outside Berlin in Potsdam that was the vacation home of "Friedrich, King of Germany at some point". It's like Versailles but in Germany. We took a train to close to the edge of Berlin and biked the rest of the way (it was just May and I on the trip so I borrowed Greg's bike...); it was a fine plan, but ended up being like 18 miles! I was proud of myself for being able to ride that far. We decided we had earned the train ride back, and once we got back to May's house we had supper at a small Sudanese restaurant before heading out to a concert by her friend Elie's band. Late night, but lots of fun.

The main castle at Sanssouci... I'll go in next time, I promise
