Lucky Us.

This post is for my many friends who are traveling overseas for their first extended period of time.
I have been to a fair few places, but one thing I've noticed is that no matter where I go, and how much I love it, and how beautiful it may be, I can never forget how lucky I am to know Southern Indiana. I realized when I was overseas, that yes, there were some really gorgeous places, both vista-wise and culturally. But don't forget the beauty of your home, wherever home is.
My favorite time of year here is autumn. I love driving with the windows down at dusk, the smell of harvested corn so strong, and it matches perfectly with the twilight--that smell that's like a phantom, so soft and earthy. The sun colors the sky orange in the west, but the tiniest sliver of a moon hangs in the blue part of the sky, with Venus keeping close beside. You drive by fields of cows and fields of corn, the light brown, tan, timid yellow stalks blending beautifully with the green trees beyond, some of which have already begun to change to red and orange; the fields slope into hills and rivers... Southern Indiana is a serpentine treat.
Coming back to this part of the States surprises me only sometimes with its beauty. It isn't hard to forget, so keep it dear, and remember where you come from. I'm not saying you have to come back, just realize that while the other places might be nice, the place you came from isn't just beautiful because of your memories of it. It actually is that amazing, serene, and whole.

Thanks to Jasmine, because I came down for her going away party and got to drive back to Btown through the country during sunset. <3
