Whitney and Adam's Wonderful World of LA

This was the week of Whitney and Adam. They got here on Saturday night, and we had a very busy week showing them around. It was a lot of fun, although, while I really don't mind driving on crazy California highways, the traffic did drive me a little nuts by the end. We had an event filled week.
Sunday: we went to Santa Monica pier, of course. It was cloudy and cold. I got to walk down the Santa Monica promenade though, I'd never done that before. It was pretty sweet--lots of shops, lots of pedestrians, and lots of buskers.
Monday: Hollywood. Hopefully the last time I have to do it. Below, you can see Adam and Patrick getting really excited about Dan Haggerty. I don't know who he is.

Tuesday: we went to the Getty Center, where a (young) rich lady asked me where Hogwarts School was (I was wearing a Harry Potter T-shirt, but whoa). We went to the farmer's market and then to the Griffith Observatory--we got to see the moon, and the Tesla machine at work. The observatory is always AWESOME. Below, the gardens at the Getty.

Wednesday: we took a trip to Venice Beach, another first for me. Walking the boardwalk granted us some spectacular sights--lots of "kush doctors" handing out medical marijuana cards for any ailment, lots of "donations only" booths--they aren't allowed to sell things along the boardwalk, I guess--and also the Calypso Tumblers, flipping and break dancing and jumping over 5 kids+2 grown men in a line (that's seven people). Then to the Tar Pits (stinky) and Chinatown for supper. Below, the Venice Beach Boardwalk, and Whitney holding Chinatown in her hand.

Thursday: a laid back day, but included a walk down Rodeo Drive and a traffic filled trip down the Sunset Strip.

Friday: an easy day at the beach at Venice. Adam and I played in the waves (which are HUGE and awesome) and otherwise we just laid out and chilled. And got extremely burnt (Whitney's feet, Adam's back, my butt). We got into an exclusive Hollywood club for the night, My House, (I feel so special being on the VIP list!) and danced until the morning hours. Below, our camp at Venice beach. Beautiful.
That's the week. And this coming week is my last in LA. I'm really really sad to have to leave, it's such an amazing city... but Pop will be here by Thursday and I'll be packin' up. Better get ready, Indiana!
